European Jazz Competition

Competition

The competition is a biennial event. The EBU (Geneva office of Euroradio) organizes the qualifying rounds. European member (public broadcasting-) organizations of the EBU nominate local groups by sending in recent recordings. The EBU -jury, consisting of European jazzradio producers, will select in a blindfolded way five finalists.

These finalists will compete each other at The North Sea Jazz Festival in Ahoy Rotterdam, The Netherlands. Each finalist presents a performance of 45 minutes.

The winner of the SENA Award Best Group European Jazz Competition receives fundings for an albumrecording at a renowned studio of their choice. Further on, this group will be offered the support of the partners of the European Jazz Competition in finding participation in the programs of essential international jazz festivals and other major music-events around the world.

Also there will be a lot of coverage of these finals. The EBU organizes radio broadcasts of the finals all over Europe
